I am Dee Scholey, an experienced copy-editor, proofreader and writer based in Wymondham, Norfolk, UK. I am a York University English graduate and I have been working as a freelance copy-editor and writer since 2008. I am a professional member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders.
The discipline I am most experienced in is international development, but I also have a strong background in, and passion for, music and the performing arts. I edit academic books and papers, educational materials for schools and colleges, promotional materials for businesses, grant proposals, press releases, promotional literature for musicians and artists, in fact anything that contains words!
I also offer a copy-writing service, so if you need, for example, business copy to describe what you do or sell, online text for your website, or even a poem or after-dinner speech, get in touch.
Why should you use my services? I am experienced, reputable and I really want to bring out the best in your writing.
Here’s what some of my clients say:
‘I am consistently impressed by Dee’s thoroughness in her editorial work, and her flexibility to meet all our deadlines. Her subtle ability to work with an author on tone and meanings is very valuable to us, especially where English is not a first language.’
Alison Norwood, Publishing Manager, Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex
‘Dee is a consistently reliable, sensitive and accurate editor, and the quality of the work exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend her services.’
Director, Rob Bowden Design Ltd, Leeds
‘Dee has been editing for me since 2008, and I am extremely pleased with her service. She always works with attention to detail on often lengthy and complex articles, and is able to work to tight deadlines and within budget. I would be more than happy to recommend her to others.’
Andrew Sumner, Reader in International Development, King’s International Development Institute, King’s College London
